Exhausted and crawling into the weekend? Float!

A Gallup study of 7,500 full-time employees, found that 23% of them reported feeling burnt out at work very often or always, while an additional 44% reported feeling burnt out sometimes. No one is immune from burnout.  Even physicians have a burnout rate of close to 50%.  This means that nearly to ½ to ⅔ of all workers, regardless of profession, are burnt out and therefore not performing at their highest capability.  This goes for the person behind the counter at the gas station, as well as the surgeon operating on your heart.

Burnout is real and up until this point, has been treated with medication, vacation, and changes in occupation.  But the problem is deeper than what can be treated with simply trying to escape.  Rob Hill, Sr. said it this way, “My goal is to build a life I don't need a vacation from."  The goal is to transform your life, from one of burning the candle at both ends, to true peace and contentment regardless of what day of the week that it is.

There are many paths that you can take to achieve this, but none of them have been shown to work as fast or last as long as floating.  In as little as a single session, people are reporting a drastic reduction in stress, anxiety, and mental fatigue.  The research performed by Kjellgren, et.al. and published in the International Journal of Psychology and Psychological Therapy, found that with 2 sessions of floating, combined with a single counseling session, per week, for 10 weeks, had a drastic reduction or elimination of burnout related anxiety and depression, and a significant improvement in their outlook on life.

I experienced this myself while on tour with Korn as their physical therapist.  I was burnt out from constant travel and noise, and missing my family.  I floated while in Toronto and felt immediate relief of my mental fatigue, and a drastic lifting of my outlook.  Not only was the effect immediate, it lasted for over a week.
